Special Focus sessions

Although ITEA 2 is a bottom-up, industry-driven programme, it is of major importance that the management has specific tools to steer the programme. One of the most important is a Technology Roadmap as proven in ITEA with the ITEA Roadmap. The ITEA Technology Roadmap is a guide for the years to come.
The second edition of the Roadmap, published in May 2004, is widely recognised as a landmark document. A third edition is now in progress.
The Special Focus sessions consisted of 3 parallel discussion sessions, each on a different aspect of the domains to be addressed by the ITEA 2 Technology Roadmap, edition 3 (RM3).The Special Focus Sessions addressed the following topics/domains:
• Me
• Group
• Public and private operators
The sessions were in the form of an introductory presentation aiming at setting the Roadmap 3 exercise. The floor was then be given to short individual presentations on the interpretation of the Domain addressed by the particular session. The major part of the sessions was dedicated to discussions.
The expected outcome of these discussions were ideas/issues/topics to challenge and feed the work already undertaken by the RM3 team and to contribute to answer the following questions:
- Which new applications do you foresee in this domain at the medium/long term?
- What are the associated requirements and challenges?
- What are the enabling technologies?
- How can IT impact on the emergence or evolution of public or private sectors?
