ITEA 2 Symposium 2006
Our 2006 Symposium took place in Paris, France on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 October in the Méridien Montparnasse Conference Center. It provided the more than 415 participants with a unique opportunity to gain an insight into one of Europe 's most important and strategic information and communication technology (ICT) initiatives.
On Thursday morning an exhibitors' forum was scheduled with three parallel technical workshops that allowed exhibitors to share their experiences. Following the symposium's official opening at 14:00 by François Loos, Minister Delegate for Industry at the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, our executive team presented ITEA's achievements and progress to date. The Friday presentations included industrial and political viewpoints.
Focusing on practical results
At the project exhibition project team members of 35 ITEA projects and 5 IST projects demonstrated the impact of their work, using demos and prototypes. Three selected projects presented their results in the plenary session on Thursday afternoon: SIRENA, MOBILIZING THE INTERNET and MAGELLAN.
ITEA Achievement Award 2006
The ITEA Board instituted the ITEA Achievement Award to reward high-level technical contributions based on true European collaboration that leads to significant results and thus further promote the programme and its goals. Each year this prestigious honour highlights a highly successful project that represents best practice. Major factors in deciding are innovation, exploitation and dissemination. The ITEA Achievement Award 2006 was presented to the winning team of the SIRENA project during the symposium dinner.
Exhibition Award 2006
This year we had a new challenge for ITEA project teams showing goals, achievements and results of their projects: an Award for the best participant in the project exhibition. The Exhibition Award 2006 went to the team that communicated the purpose, objectives, goals, and achievements and results of its project in the most understandable and vivid way. The Bronze Award went to the project team of HD4U, the Silver Award to MAGELLAN, and the Gold Award to the project team of PASSEPARTOUT.
