EAST-EEA , in the category "preparing for the future", is the winner of ITEA's 2004 Achievement Award.

The project team made a revolutionary step toward standardisation by creating a generic embedded electronic architecture for the automotive industry. Technical results, including a middleware concept and an architecture description language were presented in detail.

These results are guaranteed to be exploited, thanks to the creation of AUTOSAR, a project run by a consortium of 40 partners that will ensure the results of EAST-EEA become official standards and the rapid delivery of commercial products.
