European competitiveness and well-being through ICT-based innovation
Our 2008 Symposium took place in
During the ITEA Community day on Tuesday 21 October, Special Focus Sessions were held on the topics Open Source and Telemedicine. In the afternoon the ITEA 2 Presidium presented ITEA achievements and progress to date, and we looked ahead. This year, a highlight during the plenary session was the presentation of the ITEA 2 Roadmap 3. Furthermore three selected projects have presented their results and achievements.
On Wednesday 22 October a Co-summit was held together with ARTEMISIA Association with a common one-day programme. Nearly 600 participants from industry, universities and research institutes and the Public Authorities from all over Europe attended this event.
The Co-summit programme was scheduled around the theme: ‘European competitiveness and well-being through ICT-based innovation’. Economic and societal issues (sustainability, health, energy, safety) are becoming so pressing and complex, that ICT-based innovation is indispensable to provide solutions. This is a big challenge requiring the best combination of know-how and business approaches from various domains. The confluence of ITEA and ARTEMIS results in the enlarged eco-system necessary to successfully address these issues.
Presentations included industrial and political viewpoints on the theme and the role of ITEA 2 and ARTEMISIA. Furthermore in the afternoon there were parallel sessions for participants to join on practical ICT-based approaches to real challenges in society and economy.
